RZA and Ghostface Killah Are Making a Horror Movie

Ghostface Killah and RZA are set to produce a suspense horror thriller based on their come up.

Deadline reported Monday (Jan. 28) that the Wu-Tang rappers will be teaming up with Shaun Redick of Impossible Dream Entertainment on the production side for the forthcoming film Angel of Dust while RZA will simultaneously hold down directorial duties.

According to Deadline, the film is inspired by true stories experienced by the Clan as they went from living in the Staten Island Projects to becoming a global iconic rap group. Ghostface and his longtime manager Caruso initially developed the idea, and enlisted the help of the writers from films The Harrowing and Summer of ’84 to pen the script. In addition to producing and directing the film, RZA will also provide the score—and of course, Wu-Tang will create the soundtrack.

As for the plot, the main character Casey is a "normal yet exceptionally smart teenager and talented rapper" whose parents mysteriously died when he was younger, forcing him to grow up on his own in the rough inner-city streets of Shaolin. Life gets progressively worse as he continues to encounter gangs, corrupt cops, junkies and more. When a serial killer with "seemingly supernatural powers" that the media has nicknamed Angel of Dust pops up, he really has to put his survival skills to the test.

“The creative collaboration of RZA and Ghostface has stood the test of time through our music," RZA said in a statement to Deadline. "Now the opportunity to put our creative energies together onto the silver screen has arisen and I’m turbo charged. Bong Bong!”

Ghostface echoed similar sentiments. “It’s a blessing to partner with Oscar nominated producer Shaun Redick and Impossible Dream Entertainment, and to be doing business with my brother, RZA directing is a dream come true," said the rapper, who released the two-part LP Ghost Files in Nov. "Putting all these great minds to work together will be legendary.”

Angel of Dust is not the first film that will feature RZA's original scoring, as he most recently provided the score for Roxanne Shante's Netflix biopic, Roxanne Roxanne.

In addition to the film, the Wu-Tang Clan, who celebrated the 25th anniversary of their debut studio album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) in 2018, will be re-making the classic album with nine current artists. A release date has not yet been set.
