Photo Of ‘Campfire Celebration’ Shows Saints Defense Having Fun While Getting It Done [PIC]
The New Orleans Saints are showing promise on defense and having fun in the process.
After dropping the first two games of the season many fans and analysts alike had already counted the New Orleans Saints out of any postseason action citing the "same old story" on defense.
You had rookies and defensive backs with little to no experience. You had three first-year free agents starting. There were trade talks surrounding veteran safety Kenny Vacarro. At one point, it seemed as if the veteran was even benched by Sean Payton for his poor play. They simply didn't seem like they were playing as a unit.
But then something changed.
Led by coordinator Dennis Allen, the Saints defense found a spark in Week 3 to put down the Panthers. Then in London, they gave Sean Payton his first recorded shutout against the Dolphins. The real coming out party was the insane matchup against the Lions that literally had every defensive highlight imaginable.
The media took notice, but the Saints weren't gonna allow themselves to get "gassed up."
In a matchup against the Aaron Rodgers-less Packers at Lambeau the Black & Gold defense showed up again to hold off what could have been an easy trap game victory for Green Bay.
During one of the pass breakups in that game, the Saints D gave us another one of their group celebrations and this one is definitely worth gathering around to see.
Some people may call their behavior arrogant, but anyone who knows the NFL knows that the right amount of cockiness and swagger is necessary for a defense to be successful.
One thing I love about this is that for the first time in a LONG time the Saints defense seems to be gelling as a unit and having fun.
Let's hope it continues to pay off.
