New Orleans Saints Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson underwent surgery today to alleviate pressure on his brain after a scary fall, according to multiple reports.

Ken Trahan of Crescent City Sports, who is also the director of the Saints Hall of Fame, spoke to Jackson's daughter Rickeyah about her father's current situation.

“The procedure was a success,” Rickeyah said. “He is resting comfortably, very alert and talking like himself with nurses, doctors and all around him. I want to stress that he is doing fine and that any reports otherwise simply are not accurate.”

Jackson recently had a fall, hitting his head which caused a subdural hematoma. The surgery drained bleeding and relieved the pressure on his brain.

“One thing led to another from the fall,” Rickeyah said. “He is not walking around yet but he is doing well. We are told that in a few days, we should have him back home. They had to drain it and relieve the pressure. The doctors said it was a routine procedure to lighten it. Despite what others may say or think, it has nothing to do with football or nothing to do with his cancer.”

Rickey Jackson Recovering Comfortably Following Surgery

It's great to hear Jackson is doing well.

As a kid, I always recognized Jackson is the best players in Saints history up to that point.

He was the first Saints player to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame (in terms of a player who spent the majority of their career with the team) back in 2010, before Willie Road and Morten Andersen would follow in later years.

Jackson spent his first 13 years as a Pro in New Orleans, leading the famous Dome Patrol unit that once sent all 4 linebackers to the Pro Bowl.

His 128 career sacks currently rank 16th all-time in NFL history.
