With more rain on the way, some municipalities are starting to announce where sandbags can be picked-up today. We have already received several inches of rain in the last 24-hours, and more rain is on the way. 

If you live in a flood zone or in a low-lying area, it may be wise to grab a few sandbags to protect your property in the days ahead. Thus far, here are the locations where sandbags are avialable. We, along with the help of our sister station 96.5 KPEL, will continue to update you on sandbag locations as they become available to us. Remember, there is nothing wrong with being overly prepared in times like this.

In New Iberia: Sandbags are available at the public works building on Fulton St.

In Erath: In front of the City Hall today.

In Lafayette: At The LCG North District Barn at 130 Shantel Road ( old landfill ) and at The LCG South District Barn at 1017 Fortune Road.

In Youngsville: Sandbags for the elderly and disabled are available at the Sewer Plant facility on Highway 734. Other locations in Youngsville are as follows: The Horse Arena on Highway 734; The Youngsville Police Station on Fourth Street; The Maintenance building on Highway 734

In Broussard: Behind the City Hall on Madison St. Please bring your own shovel.

In Carencro: Sand bags are available at the community center located at 5115 N. University. Residents must bring their own shovels.

In Duson: Sandbags are available at the Sewer Plant on Betty Ann Street.

In Mamou: Sandbags are available at the City Barn.

St. Martin Parish: Sandbags will be available at two locations today. from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Please bring your own shovels to fill the sandbags. Locations are: Ruth Barn-Ruth Bridge Hwy & South Barn-Capritto Forty Arpent Rd.

Vermilion Parish is offering sandbags to residents in need at the following locations (Bring Own Shovel):

Public Works, 2211 Leonie Street, Abbeville, LA
Area 1 Barn 13115 Mack Switch Road, Erath, LA
Area 2 Barn, 12002 Calvin LeBouef Road, Abbeville, LA
Area 3 Barn, 29429 Veterans Memorial Drive, Gueydan, LA
Area 4 Barn, 13531 Gladu Road, Kaplan, LA

Ville Platte: Bags available at the city barn at 809 West Hickory Street. Bags are prepared and ready to be picked up.

Maurice: Sand and bags available next to City Hall. Residents will need to bring their own shovels and will have to bag their own sand.

Scott: The bags are already filled and can be picked up at the maintenance building at 116 Lions Club Road. There is a limit of two bags per door, and officials will check IDs for proof of residency.

The St. Landry Parish Government will provide Self-Fill Sandbags for St. Landry Parish Residents until 9:00pm Wednesday, January 9, 2013.

Pick-up Location: Yambilee Building, 1939 W. Landry St., Opelousas - Behind the Yambilee Building in the open hut.
Sandbag Limit: 10 per household
Please bring a shovel.
