A well-known Lafayette eatery is dealing with significant damage after a late-night fire broke out at Shane’s Loaded Mac Bar on Johnston Street.

Firefighters were called to the restaurant at 1043 Johnston Street just before 10 p.m. after patrons at a nearby business noticed smoke coming from the building and called 911.


Firefighters Encounter Heavy Smoke On Arrival

When crews arrived on scene, heavy smoke was already coming from the roof of the building, signaling a serious situation inside.

Firefighters quickly entered the restaurant and located the source of the fire in the kitchen area. Crews worked aggressively to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further throughout the building.

Fire Contained Within Twenty Minutes

According to officials, emergency crews brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes.

Despite the quick response, the restaurant sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, particularly in the kitchen where the fire is believed to have started.


Restaurant Was Closed At Time Of Fire

Officials confirmed that Shane’s Loaded Mac Bar had already closed for the night around 8 p.m., meaning no customers or staff were inside when the fire broke out.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.


Cause Of Fire Still Under Investigation

Fire officials say the fire originated in the kitchen, but the exact cause remains under investigation.

As of now, there is no word on when or if the restaurant will reopen following the damage.
