National Spelling Bee Judge Accidentally Quotes Kelis’ ‘Milkshake’ [VIDEO]
Let's face it, spelling bees aren't the most exciting things to watch. You have jittery kids standing on stage, nervously trying to pronounce and spell words that none of us will ever use in our lifetimes. But a surprising gaffe made by a judge at the 2014 Scripps National Spelling Bee might have been the most hilarious thing to happen during the annual competition since, well, ever!
Competitor Sriram Hathwar was asked to spell the word "feijoada," which is a Brazilian dish made of rice and beans. When Hathwar asked the judge, Dr. Jacques Bailly, to use the word in a sentence, he accidentally quotes a line from Kelis' 'Milkshake' before someone interrupts him letting him know he is reading the wrong sentence.
You simply have to watch the video above to see how it all went down as it was captured on live national TV.
We're not sure why the judges had the lyrics to 'Milkshake' right in front of them, but perhaps this will get people watching the spelling bee more next year?
