Lower St. Martin Parish is under a no wake order until further notice.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office and parish president Chester Cedars made that announcement Wednesday morning.

The order comes as heavy rains from this week's storms have increased water levels in the lower portion of the parish. Sheriff's deputies say boaters in that area have been traveling at high rates of speed and pushing water into yards and homes along the bayous. Any boaters violating the no wake order will be cited.
