T.I. has one less charge to deal with in relation to his May arrest outside of his gated community in Atlanta.

Prosecutors in the case have decided to drop an assault charge the rapper was facing, according to a report by TMZ on Wednesday (Oct. 17). As previously reported, Tip was arrested back in the spring for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct as the result of an altercation with a security guard in his neighborhood who refused to let the rapper past the gate because he lacked proper identification.

According to a statement from T.I.'s lawyer, "Tip was in contact with 'Tiny' by phone and 'Tiny confirmed that Tip should be let in immediately. The guard continued to refuse entry without justification. Words were exchanged and apparently the guard and/or a supervisor called the police. When the police arrived, they were not interested in hearing Tip’s side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip."

The guard insisted that Tip tried to start a physical altercation, but the rapper denied those claims. Later, footage surfaced of the arresting officer making fun of the Dime Trap rapper.

Prosecutors have decided they don't have enough evidence to pursue an assault charge, but the Atlanta rap star still faces three counts of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and one count of misdemeanor public drunkenness.
