In the midst of recovery efforts, a heat advisory has been issued for portions of southeastern Louisiana. In the place where Hurricane Ida did the most damage, recovering residents will now have to cope with extreme heat conditions while being without power.
As of the 7 AM Advisory from the National Hurricane Center in Lake Charles, this monster storm is packing 150 mph winds with gusts of 165 mph. That's only 7 mph short of Ida having Category 5 intensity.
As Hurricane Ida approaches Louisiana, some parishes around the state are announcing both mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders. Ida is expected to make landfall as a major hurricane on Sunday, August 29th.
