Taye Diggs Sparks Dialogue Around Wanting His Son To Be Identified As ‘Mixed,’ Not Black

Taye Diggs has people up in arms after stating that he didn't want his son to be called black—he wants you to identify him as "mixed."

Diggs' son, Walker, is also the son of singer Idina Menzel—whose heritage he says doesn't deserve to be disrespected by people calling young Walker just black.

I don’t want my son to be in a situation where he calls himself black and everyone thinks he has a black mom and a black dad, and then they see a white mother, they wonder, ‘Oh, what’s going on,'

Diggs also wrote a book, Mixed Me! inspired by Walker and sat down with The Grio to discuss how he would like others to describe his son's race.

Naturally this didn't sit so well on social media.

After getting dragged on social media, Diggs hit up IG to let everyone know the deal.
