Eric Iorio, a graduate of Teurlings Catholic High School, is currently recovering in Germany after being shot last weekend during an insurgent attack. According to KATC, the Lafayette native was shot in the elbow and the lower leg when the Taliban attacked his unit.

Iorio, a member of the 101st Airborne 506 Infantry Band of Brothers, went through basic training last fall before he was stationed at Fort Cambell, KY to eventually be sent to Afghanistan last month on June 7th.

He was airlifted to Germany after the attack where he is currently recovering, but will later be transported to Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

Eric Iorio was awarded with the Combat Infantry Badge and a Purple Heart in the wake of the attack. We here at Hot 107.9 wish him a speedy recovery and appreciate his service and sacrifice.
