While going through an old box in the closet, I found a few old VHS tapes that I still have in my possession. Why do I still have these tapes, I don't know. But one thing I am certain of is that I do still own these tapes, and that I can recall watching these five tapes over and over again. Sure, many of these movies or events have been re-mastered through the years, but there is something special about watching these still on VHS!! Here are the five VHS tapes that still have a special place in my heart.

    Smokey And The Bandit

Of all the VHS tapes I owned in the past, I dare say that the "Smokey and The Bandit" VHS was most played. I have all three episodes of "Smokey and The Bandit" on VHS and I can honestly say that episode number 1 was by far my favorite. Jackie Gleason was genius here and this is one VHS I cannot and will not ever let go of.

    Police Academy

In the mid-80s, there were several episodes put out about "Police Academy." Much like "Smokey & The Bandit," this series had some of the best one-liners in it's script. For a while, I knew the first three episodes "by heart." I mean, how could we ever forget the recruits and all that they were put through. To this day I still catch myself dropping a few lines from "Police Academy."

    WrestleMania 3

Yes, I still have this one on VHS!! Its WrestleMania 3 that was held in the Pontiac Silver Dome back in 1987. While as a kid I was and still am a huge pro-wrestling fan. As a matter of fact, I bought this VHS just so that I could see the event before such a large crowd. The event was before a live audience of 93,173 and scored millions of viewers via Pay-Per-View. While i have since purchased a master copy of this event on DVD, I'll never let go of this VHS. By the way, its on this VHS that Hulk Hogan body slammed Andre The Giant to win the WWF Championship!!!

    Top Gun

Like so many young boys, I too was fascinated with Top Gun. No, not because of the romance and all, but I was fascinated with the jets and fast paced action. How could anyone during the time this movie came out not be all about "Top Gun?" I always remember the stiff competition amongst the pilots, but when death ensues it is then when you see the best come of of a friendly competition. Oh by the way, for a while I though that it may be cool to fly a jet like that in the movie, then I quickly realized that I was to big of a "chicken" to take that risk. Classic movie, and the soundtrack wasn't that bad either.

    Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Victories

YES, I know. I have all three Super Bowl victories under head coach Jimmy Johnson scored away on VHS. I would record them so that I could have football year around. You see, as a kid we did not have the NFL Network which allowed for football 365 days a year. Sure I may have been resorting to the past, but damn were they good. On a side note, I not only collected the Super Bowl victories on VHS, I also collected the jackets Coach Johnson wore during those wonder years.
