Other than Super Bowl Weekend, the NBA All-Star Weekend is my second favorite weekend in all of sports. The various competitions caught my attention at a young age and since then I have always anxiously awaited the NBA All-Star Weekend. While I have always looked forward to the annual 3-Point competition among NBA players, it's the annual SLAM DUNK competition that seems to steal my interest. This past week I watched the slam dunk competitions from 1986 to 1997 on NBA-TV and I honestly forgot how creative some of the contestants have been through the years. I also forgot how fashion has since come and gone from the 80s & 90s.

Of all of my favorites through the years, it is still the dunks from players like Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Shawn Kemp, Vince Carter, Spud Webb and more that are part of my all-time favorites. I mean, how could we ever forget Jordan flying from the free throw line or Blake Griffin jumping over a CAR in the competition?

Here is a snip it of some of the all-time best dunks in the NBA slam dunk competition. This years competition comes from Orlando, Fla. and airs on this Saturday, February 25th, on TNT. The Sprite Slam Dunk competition is set to start at 7pm and promises to follow a new format. Until then, take a look back on some of the best high-flyers ever in the competition.
