WSB-TV in Atlanta clearly has some hip-hop heads on staff. Channel 2's Mark Arum and Fred Blankenship gained national attention last year for their unique tribute to Phife Dawg. Yesterday (March 9), the duo honored The Notorious B.I.G. in a similiar manner on the 20th anniversary of his death.

Arum and Blankenship sprinkled Biggie Smalls' lyrics into their broadcast for a special tribute to the late MC. Viewers tuning in for the traffic report got a heavy dose of references to The Notorious B.I.G.'s greatest hits, including "Juicy."

"Delays right now on Georgia 400 and if you don't know, now ya know about those," Blankenship said. "I know you thought birthdays were the worst days, but I think Thursday might be the worst day," Arum responded.

The Atlanta news crew were one of the many people to pay their respects to Biggie on Thursday. XXL spoke to a few MCs about his legacy. In an interview with Raekwon, the Wu-Tang Clan member summed up Biggie's importance to hip-hop.

“What B.I.G. meant to hip-hop is that he was one of the dudes that came from nothing and turned into something,” Raekwon told XXL. “His talent exceeded everything. He knew how to rhyme. He knew how to freestyle. He knew how to make songs. He was clever. Had a lot of metaphorical shit. More importantly, he was representing New York to the fullest.”
