KATC TV-3 reports that a COVID outbreak may have come from a recent wedding held in Abbeville.

The Louisiana Department of Health has confirmed a COVID-19 outbreak from a wedding that was held in Abbeville on September 25, 2021. The event took place at the L'Eglise wedding venue.

The department says that if you attended this wedding, you need to be tested for COVID now as many there have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, which of course is the virus that causes COVID-19.

If you attended this event and are not vaccinated, you should go into quarantine through October 9th.

According to LDH, symptoms you want to look out for include the following:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Wedding season is here and many will be attending weddings in the weeks ahead. Please remember to social distance and wear your mask if you are not vaccinated.

According to the report from KATC,  "If an exposed unvaccinated individual tests negative for COVID-19 prior to the end of the quarantine period, they still need to remain quarantined for the remainder of the 14 days."
