Three 18-year-old's from Abbeville - Kenan Michael Wills, Dequan Trevelle Turner, and Latrell Dion Ashley - have all been arrested after they allegedly used social media to rob a victim at gunpoint in order to take that victim's long gun.

In a press release, Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office PIO Eddie Langlinais says the incident happened on Friday night, April 16. The victim told authorities that a buyer arranged via social media a time and place for them to meet for a "trade" involving the long gun for a different type of long gun. But when they met, the suspects allegedly robbed the victim of the long gun.

Once it was learned that the three men were within the city limits of Abbeville, the Sheriff's Office and the Abbeville Police Department teamed up to take them into custody. During the arrest, authorities say they found two firearms and suspected illegal drugs.

All three suspects have been booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center on warrants for Armed Robbery. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

A recommendation from police: Use a registered firearms dealer to buy and sell firearms to avoid these dangers.
