More local businesses are doing good for their communities as three of Broussard's finest will be providing 1,000 free jambalaya lunches for those in need.

Broussard Commons, Guidry Land Development, and Chops Specialty Meats will be providing the meals this Friday, April 24 at Broussard Commons (811 Albertson Parkway) starting at noon.

The meals will be available to anyone who has become unemployed or had their hours reduced due to coronavirus or the downturn in the oil and gas industry.

In order to help as many people as possible, each vehicle will be limited to four lunches.

“Between the stay-at-home order and the plunging price of oil, our economy has been dealt a double whammy, and our people are hurting,” says Jeff Delahoussaye, owner of Chops Specialty Meats. “We feel a responsibility to help in whatever capacity we are able to, and this is something that we can do.”

“Broussard is a special community, and it is even more evident when local businesses come forward to help those in need,” says Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque.
