Tiffany Haddish’s star is rising so fast she’s basically gone supernova. After the actress effortlessly stole the show during last summer’s Girls Trip, Haddish has been in high demand. She’s gone on a number of talk shows already, announced the Oscar nominations, and appeared on a hilarious segment of Drunk History. But what’s next for her, movie-wise? Paul Thomas Anderson has a few ideas.

During his acceptance speech at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards last month, Anderson, via Phantom Thread star Lesley Manville (who accepted the award since he personally couldn’t attend), addressed Haddish directly and actually gave her his phone number (naturally, an 818 area code). In her fantastic interview with Vulture, Haddish confirmed that she’d actually called and talked to him:

I’ve been talking to him on the telephone! I mean, he put his phone number out there, so I had to call. I’ve talked to him a few times and we’re probably gonna work together.

As for what it’s going to be exactly, Haddish said she didn’t know, but it might be a period piece set in Los Angeles: “Well, we’ve been talking a lot about Los Angeles, back when Central Avenue was the Sunset Boulevard of L.A. I don’t know, I don’t know!”

PTA has said repeatedly that he’s dying to work with Haddish, ever since he shouted her out in his Reddit AMA and called her a “f---ing magic trip” in an interview with Nerdist. Honestly, I just love the thought of Paul Thomas Anderson sitting down and guffawing through Girls Trip, but I’m even more excited to see where this newfound friendship takes them both.
