Haven't rappers learned anything from each other when it comes to the police? Countless times stories are reported about unfavorable run-ins between hip-hop and the law. Sometimes the cops are wrong, other times, the culprit is the artist. This time it's Too $hort.

The Bay Area rhymer was arrested early Wednesday morning for DUI after fleeing from the scene and giving chase, TMZ reports.

Police stopped $hort in Los Angeles for a traffic violation, which was not disclosed. When authorities approached the vehicle, they claim the rapper, born Todd Shaw, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Too $hort was asked to take a breathalyzer test and when police attempted to administer it, he ran away. But the 'Blow the Whistle' creator was no marathon runner -- he tripped during his escape.

He was subsequently placed under arrest. When cops put $hort in the back of the police car, he then tried to ditch some drugs in his possession. Bad move, $hort!

Not only was he booked for DUI, he now faces felony narcotics possession charges.

From his .09 alcohol level -- just over the .08 legal limit in Los Angeles -- it looks like Too $hort decided to dip out because of the drugs.
