Rapides Parish has been particularly hard hit by the line of severe thunderstorms that moved through central and south Louisiana early this morning. Deputies in Rapides Parish are reportedly going door to door in an area of the parish off Washboard Road near Pineville.

Investigators are on the scene in the area and will be able to better determine if the damage reported near Pineville was caused by a rotating storm or straight-line winds once the sun comes up.

Early this morning officials with CLECO the primary electric provider for Rapides Parish was reporting numerous outages affecting several thousand customers. The utility does have emergency crews working diligently to restore service to those that were affected.
