UPDATED: Markell Jones has been arrested after hours on the run. He was caught near the intersection of West Willow and Rubria Streets wearing orange shorts, socks and a black hoodie.

Here are the charges Jones faces: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, Aggravated Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Cruelty to a Juvenile, Criminal Trespass, and Simple Escape.

Jones' girlfriend, Desara Edmond, is being charged with Accessory After the Fact and Simple Escape.

UPDATED: The lockdowns at Lafayette Middle School and Myrtle Place Elementary have been lifted after a sweep of the schools was conducted, according to our news partners at KATC.

Markell Jones remains on the run.

A man being transferred from another parish to court at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse was able to get away from the people transporting him.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesman John Mowell says the man, Markell Jones, is currently being sought by the officers that was transporting the man, and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is helping in the search.

Out of an abundance of caution, two schools are on lockdown. Those schools are Lafayette Middle School and Myrtle Place Elementary.

The inmate, from East Carroll Parish, escaped around the area of North St. Antoine and Voorhies Streets.

Jones is five feet, eight inches tall, and he weighs around 125 pounds.

He is likely wearing orange shorts.
