Walmart Will Be Getting Rid Of Greeters, Some Now Worried
Some of the greeters you may recognize at you local Walmart store may soon no longer be there.
Walmart has informed greeters around the country that they will be eliminating the current position, thus leaving some worried about making a living.
The positions will be eliminated by April 26 and the new "roles" of greeters will require much more physical work than now. According to WAFB, the new positions created by Walmart will require the workers to lift heavy objects and even climb ladders.
Here's where the current greeters come into play. Many of the greeters you may see at Walmart now are disabled and cannot perform the new requirements.
Thus, many are left asking if they will still have a job at Walmart by the end of April. Customers seem to support the current greeters as many have gone to social media to express their displeasure with the recent announcement.
Walmart says it is striving to place greeters in other jobs at the company, but workers with disabilities are worried. Some have even gone as far as to say that it seems like Walmart doesn't want them working for the company any longer.
We will continue to follow this developing story.
