Was Keith Olbermann’s Rant on Ray Rice Over the Top? No…It Was Spot On – From the Bird’s Nest
Yesterday on Bird's Eye View we talked about the breaking news that the Baltimore Ravens had terminated the contract of Ray Rice and the NFL had suspended him indefinitely.
The first caller, a regular to the station, suggested Rice was provoked because his now wife had slapped him. He went on to say that Rice didn't not knock her out, she was knocked out when her head hit a railing in the elevator (after Rice punched her.)
Well, needless to say, that got the show off to a rousing start.
I am close to women who have been abused...physically, mentally and sexually. I am, therefore, extremely sensitive when it comes to that issue. I thought the comments were, frankly, horrifying. And, gratefully, callers agreed with me.
Then there's Keith Olbermann.
Olbermann, whether you love him or hate him, agree or disagree with him, is one of the most eloquent journalists of our generation. His blistering commentary about Rice, the Ravens, the NFL, the Commissioner and the court system has been a huge topic of conversation today.
Here it is, in case you haven't see it. I don't always agree with Olbermann, but this might be his best-ever rant.
