This is not just a signal, it’s a warning: If you’re waiting for The Batman to come to streaming, its premiere date is just one week away.

Matt Reeves’ reinvention of DC Comics’ Dark Knight is still playing in theaters — in fact it made another $6.5 million last weekend alone — but it will debut on Monday, HBO Max on April 18. (If you still subscribe to the HBO cable channel, it will premiere there on Saturday, April 23, at 8PM ET.) Warner Bros. blockbusters now debut on HBO Max 45 days after they premiere in movie theaters. The Batman debuted in theaters on March 4 and 45 days after that is ... April 18. So this really shouldn’t be a surprise.

This latest Batman stars Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, only a year or two into his career as the Caped Crusader, squaring off with a dark new version of the Riddler, played by Paul Dano. The rest of the cast includes Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman will come to HBO Max as the company is actively developing spinoff television shows set in its version of Gotham City. Farrell’s Penguin, for example, is due for a spinoff series focused on his character. Previously, HBO was also working on a show centered on the members of the Gotham City Police Department. The last we heard, though, that series had undergone a change of showrunner — from Terence Winter to Joe Barton — and now it is instead a show set inside Gotham’s infamous Arkham Asylum for super-villains.

Neither of those shows have a premiere date yet, but you can at least start binging The Batman to your heart’s content starting next week.
