This is the Wealthiest Person in Louisiana According to 2023 Forbes List
The 42nd edition of the Forbes 400 Wealthiest People list was published Tuesday and one our our own made the list.
In 2022 Gayle Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints and the Pelicans, was the No. 224 out of 400 on the list. She was also listed as No.778 on the global list of billionaires, at the time she was worth $4.7 billion.
I'm sure you can guess who took the No. 1 spot this year, Elon Musk, with a net worth of $251 billion. The new 400 list was just released and has some notable firsts worth mentioning. For the first time, a professional athlete made it on the list, none other than Michael Jordan.
Who Did Not Make the Forbes 400?
We didn't, shocker, we know. We aren't the only ones who didn't make the 2.9 billion dollar cut.
Here are some familiar faces who were also "too poor" to be mentioned this year:
- Oprah Winfrey —$2.8 billion
- Donald Trump —$2.6 billion
- Jay-Z—$2.5 billion
- Kim Kardashian—$1.7 billion
- Tom Ford—$2.2 billion
- Tiger Woods—$1 billion
- Lebron James $1 billion
- Apple CEO Tim Cook—$1.8 billion
Who's the Richest Person in Louisiana?
Crazy to think that someone from Louisiana made the Forbes 400 list of wealthiest people, and former president, Donald Trump, did not. That's right, William Goldring and family surpassed even Oprah Winfrey for a place on this year's list. Coming in at No.176, William Goldring is a self-made billionaire worth $6 billion. William Goldring attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he got his master's in Arts.
Goldring's Sazerac Company owns 500 alcohol brands and a dozen distilleries in the United States, Canada, France, Ireland, and India. Ever heard of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky? You can thank this family for bringing it to the masses. According to Forbes, Goldring took over the business his father built from the ground up in the 1960s.
