The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Wednesday night that Governor Tony Evers "Safer At Home" Order was unlawful, and overturned it right away. The move immediately reopened all businesses in the state, and took away all restrictions on business owners and the public.

Part of the Court's ruling centered around Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary Andrea Palm, who issued portions of the "Safer At Home" Order the Governor put forward. The Court also said the extension of the order, to May 26th, was overstepping.

Republican lawmakers in the state asked for a 6-day pause in the order to come up with a plan to put in place, but the Court struck that request down as well. The Court indicated that lawmakers had ample time to develop a plan, and were not able to do so.

As soon as the ruling was filed, businesses from bars to tattoo shops were allowed to open without restriction. However, within minutes, many municipalities across the state issued their own versions of the "Safer At Home" Order. Cities like Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Madison brought forward many of the same restrictions that had been included in the state-wide order.

Both sides of the state legislature have indicated that they will draw up replacement orders right away. State Republicans intend to present a reopening plan, while the Governor's office expressed that they will be looking for a new COVID plan to address state-wide shutdowns. Both plans are expected to be revealed today.
