A California woman has been sentenced to five years in jail for trying to defraud a popular wedding site. The Los Angeles Times reports, Vermyttya Miller booked a wedding reception three years ago through the popular wedding site The Knot.

The package reportedly included a $10,000 cancellation Insurance policy.
Miller faked an injury, canceled the reception, and filed an insurance claim. She received a $10,000 insurance check on October 31, 2016.
A few weeks later, Miller altered a police report from a previous incident, and sent it to the insurance company, claiming the check had been stolen. The woman’s history of previous fraudulent activity sparked an investigation.

She pleaded no contest to felony insurance fraud, was ordered to pay $22,500 in restitution, and sentenced to five years in jail. I feel bad for the prospective groom...if there really was one.
