Amid student protests of his performance at the University of Montana, XXXTentacion has canceled his upcoming appearance.

The Florida rapper, who is facing trial in December for allegedly beating and strangling his pregnant ex-girlfriend, was set to perform at the University of Montana's Adams Center for the Halloween Lit Party on Oct. 27. Although XXXTentacion will no longer be performing, Tyga, Lil Pump and Famous Dex, will go on as planned.

"Due to factors beyond the control of Bonafied Entertainment or the Adams Center GrizTix, previously announced artist XXXTentacion will not be performing during this show. No refunds for tickets purchased prior to this announcement will be made," the organizers said in an email on Thursday afternoon, according to MIssoulian.

Some students were planning to protest the show given the nature of X's charges. According to Missoulian, freshman Maggie Bornstein said the rapper's appearance was "terrible" and "embarrassing" in the wake of the national attention and federal intervention over how the campus handles sexual assault, which culminated in Jon Krakauer's book, Missoula: Rape and the Justice System in a College Town.

"It's really hypocritical of our school," student Tristan Naeseth said.

XXXTentacion is charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment and witness-tampering. In September, Pitchfork released a disturbing, detailed report of the alleged abuse. XXXTentacion's trial is scheduled to start in December.
