A XXXTentacion show ended before it could even start this Labor Day weekend. The South Florida rapper tried to perform a free, all-ages show in the Tampa neighborhood of Ybor City last night (Sept. 2) but was forced to cancel due to overcrowding.

The performance at Club Orpheum was promoted through social media earlier this week with a RSVP link. When it came time for the show, approximately 2,000 people showed up to the 725-capacity venue trying to get in. The crowd outside was far more than the place could accommodate, leading police to swiftly cancel the show, which caused fights to break out.

As for XXX, the young rapper showed up to the venue but then drove away when his show got shut down, but, of course, that didn't stop die-hard fans from chasing him on the highway.

As mayhem ensued, fans online claimed they were tear-gassed by cops. XXX got on Twitter to express his concern for fans, writing "They seriously could have hurt some children." The Tampa Police Department deny spraying tear gas.

XXX dropped his debut album, 17, late last month to positive early reviews. The artist's mix of grunge, rap and acoustic rock peaked the interest of many in the hip-hop world, namely Kendrick Lamar, who tweeted out the album and claimed to have listened to the project on repeat at least five times. Early album sales projections for 17 pegged XXX at moving 65,000-70,000 copies within its first seven days of release.
