It's always exciting when a new business opens in town especially when it's the first of its kind. A black-owned hotel group is making its way to the Northside of Lafayette. They have plans to diversify the local hotel business and bring tourism and jobs to the Northside.

Recently Black Cat Cafe announced they would be opening in the Northside area so the news of yet another business choosing to help develop the area is certainly welcome.

La Creole Luxury Boutique Hotel

John Ford, CEO of Pride Opportunity Developers says they have a clear vision for the hotel and that it will pay tribute to the rich Creole culture we have here in Lafayette. It will also honor Grammy-winning Zydeco artists like Clifton Chenier who have had an immense impact on our culture and all those who have modeled their work after the 'King of Zydeco'.

He goes on to say that the reason they made this announcement at the Clifton Chenier Center is in hopes that it can be seen in a "different light" and be completely converted into a "shrine" for those who have had a strong influence on our creole and Zydeco history and culture.

We have to invest in north Lafayette, we have to be the ones generating the thought process and the plans for this community

What Can We Expect?

La Creole Inns and Suites will consist of 100 rooms and will have 50 jobs available ranging from part-time at $16 an hour to full-time salary positions with salaries ranging from $89,000-$90K a year according to the CEO of S&L Hospitality, Eric Lund. The hotel will be located at 220 W Willow St Lafayette, LA, and is set to be completed by 2025.

This is certainly something to look forward to and will help the Northside of Lafayette continue to build its economy and pay tribute to those who have influenced the Zydeco and Creole culture.
