Another day, another food recall. This time it's another Texas-based food producer that is asking you to discard or return their products. Officials with Ruiz Food Products are warning consumers that there could a danger of salmonella or listeria associated with some of their products.

The USDA's Food Inspection Service announced yesterday that approximately 2,490,593 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry taquitos were included in this recall. The products in question were manufactured between July 1st and October 10th of this year.

Here is the rundown of the products involved in the recall:

  • 4.5-lbs. cardboard cases containing 24-count Go-Go Taquitos “Beef Taco & Cheese Taquitos” with a case code 86183 printed on the label.
  • 4.5-lbs. cardboard cases containing 24-count Go-Go Taquitos “Buffalo Style Cooked Glazed Chicken Taquitos” with a case code 86006 printed on the label.
  • 4.5-lbs. cardboard cases containing 24-count Go-Go Taquitos “Chipotle Chicken Wrapped in A Battered Flour Tortilla” with a case code 86019 printed on the label.

The reason for the recall appears to be an issue with the onions that were used in the making of the products. Ruiz' supplier notified the company on October the 16th that some of the diced onions sent to Ruiz may create concerns over listeria and salmonella.

Ruiz Food Products sells products under the brand names of Ruiz, El Monterey, Tornados and Three Bold Brothers.
