Acadia Parish to Stop Student Meal Service

The Acadia Parish School Board has decided that today will be the last day it will provide meals to students. The school system, like many others, had been providing grab and go meals for students that were out of school because of the coronavirus threat.

Because of the "Stay-at-Home" order issued Sunday by Governor John Bel Edwards, the Acadia Parish School Board opted to discontinue the service. Here is the release that was sent out from Acadia Parish Superintendent of Schools  Scott Richard late Sunday.

"Following today's "Stay-at-Home Order" by Honorable Governor John Bel Edwards, and, after careful consideration regarding the safety of all stakeholders, the Acadia Parish School System will provide meals tomorrow, Monday - then cease operations until further notice.

We are appreciative of the tremendous efforts of our Child Nutrition Program staff, District Office staff, numerous school-based staff, and our community stakeholders that have provided support for this initiative.

On behalf of the Acadia Parish School Board, we hope that all citizens take the necessary precautions to remain healthy and safe.
