The firing of local Cajun music entertainer Jamie Bergeron from his paramedic job at Acadian Ambulance has the Acadiana community emotionally charged.

Bergeron officially lost his job at Acadian Ambulance today over social media postings that included a cartoon of a vehicle hitting protester on a roadway with a caption that read, "All Lives Splatter".

The community has mixed emotions...

"There needs to be a generic disclaimer “the views expressed by....are opinion only and by no means reflect on the poster’s employee “ !!! Lighten up people, this is pathetic."-Johnny M.

"This is such crap!!! What happened to freedom of speech? They have people doing ALOT worse but because he is in the public eye he gets this!"-Dodie L.

"He did something without thinking through the consequences. We all have to be accountable for what we do and say. Sorry it came to this."-Rosemary S.

"Unfortunate. Yes, we have free speech but emotions and tensions are high, it takes very little on both sides to offend."-Mary L.

"It is a pitiful time that we are living in that a man's personal info is shared publicly in order to set an example. This man has done so much for Acadiana and to be made a scape-goat on something which was done on his personal media platform is Ludacris."-Dawn D.

"He’s always been a do it his way, damn the consequences, kind of guy. Sucks he lost his job because of it."-Kurt S.

"So disappointed in them. Free speech is only free if you agree????"-Linda D.

"It’s time for us to stop being offended by every single thing we see on social media. If you don’t like someone’s opinion, humor, posts, etc., it’s simple, don’t follow their social media pages. It’s definitely time to lighten up."-Shelly R.

"They will gain some new customers for this..."-anonymous

"He knew better then that he got what he deserve."-Shirley J.

"I saw this meme and agree it was in bad taste. That being said if I had my granddaughter in the car and it became surrounded by terrorists they would indeed meet their demise. Period!"-Cheryl B.

"He’s saved many lives and is very respectable. Acadians medics are underpaid. He probably makes most of his money with his music and other products. Their loss not his!!!"-Alayna L.

Emotions are high in the U.S. right now. The tension is so thick you can cut it with your finger. It would behoove all to take a deep breath, love more, respect all and by all means be mindful of what you post on social media.
