Funeral services for Trayford Pellerin will be held today (Sept. 10) in Lafayette.

Pellerin was fatally shot by police on the night of Friday, August 21 and since his death, there has been civil unrest in the city. The Pellerin family has been visible during some of the peaceful protests and community gatherings in the wake of Trayford's passing. Today they lay him to rest.

According to Megan Wyatt at the Acadiana Advocate, Pellerin's funeral services are being held at the Philadelphia Christian Church, less than a mile away from the Shell station where he was killed.

Public visitation begins at 9 a.m. and Pellerin's funeral service starts at 11 a.m. where Reverend Al Sharpton and Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory are set to speak.

According to Al Sharpton's official Facebook page, he will be delivering the eulogy today at Pellerin's funeral services.
