Are These the Longest Mardi Gras Beads in Lafayette?

Now that the parades have finished rolling and the Hurricane ride is packed up on the truck, all that's left of Mardi Gras are the headaches and the beads.

The best thing to do with the leftover beads? Donate them to LARC over at Acadian Village. The second-best thing to do with them? Make the longest Mardi Gras bead strand in Lafayette:

I noticed them in the neighborhood as I left for work today. Not realizing how long they were, I decided to back up and start filming. I don't know if this is a record, but they are over 300 feet long. (I know that the beads are twisted together, but still: this is pretty impressive.)

I am hoping that the kids who made this used "broken" beads, and that they take the "good" beads over to LARC.
