If you are looking for employment, or you're already employed, but want a change, then put a reminder on your calendar to participate in the annual Leda Job Fair Thursday, May 2 at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette.

Lafayette Economic Development Authority President Gregg Gothreaux says that in a time when our economy has seen the loss of so many jobs, this is the perfect event for job seekers to find out about the many job opportunities that exist in Acadiana.

Gothreaux adds,

This Job Fair is part of ongoing efforts in the region to connect our displaced workers with companies who are hiring. The participating companies offer jobs ranging from entry-level to experienced, from those needing little training to those requiring advanced degrees.

You can even get some great advice ahead of the LEDA Job Fair! There is even an advance event being put on in conjunction with LEDA to help participants get the most out of their experience. A Preparation Workshop for people looking for work will be held on Thursday, April 25.

At the early event, they will end review your resume for you. You are asked to pre-register for the early event by going to 2019ledajobfairprepworkshop.eventbrite.com. The Preparation Workshop will be held at the LEDA office on Devalcourt St.

At the advance event, Laurie J. James will hold her very popular seminar on how to write the best resume, and a representative from Facet with present how to "Dress For Success".

At the job fair itself, you will be able to speak to employers about their job openings, and in some cases, employers may interview you at the fair.

LEDA's Manager of Workforce Development, Ryan LaGrange adds,

"The LEDA Job Fair is an excellent opportunity to meet face to face with hiring managers from multiple employers all on one day and in one place. Every year, we hear success stories following the job fair from both job seekers and employers. This event continues to have a tremendous impact on the community, assisting both job seekers and businesses."

The job fair opens up at 9 o'clock that morning and will run through 2 o'clock that afternoon.

There will be two seminars for those in attendance. Danielle Dayries will present her advice in the a seminar entitled, "How to Market Yourself for Your Next Great Job."

The second seminar will feature Facet presenting "How to Follow-Up After the Job Fair." Seating for the seminars will be limited, so if you are interested you are advised to head to the exhibit hall early.
