A loud boom last night has left many residents in North Louisiana asking, "what was that?" Authorities are now investigating an underground bunker explosion late last night at Camp Minden. Authorities initially thought that it could have been a meteor that hit the ground in some secluded area between Dixie Inn and Minden, LA, but that theory was dispelled early this morning.

KSLA News 12 viewer Shana Levick said she was driving on I-20 by Dixie Inn when she saw the sky light up a bright orange color.  She said she could see what appeared to be small fire sparks above the tree lines.

Chief Deputy Bobby Igo says the bunker belongs to a company called Explo. After we talked about the update a listener called-in on the show and told us that Camp Minden is a storage facility for military ammunition and explosives. Well maybe that explains why so many felt the rumble.
