Be Prepared With For Anything With This ‘Essential I-10 Survival Kit’ [Photos]
As we all know, traveling I-10 these days can get...well dangerous. If you're lucky, the worst thing you'll have to go through is sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for hours. This is why you need to be prepared for whatever comes your way with this "Essential I-10 Survival Kit".
Take a look at the items below for your "Essential I-10 Survival Kit" and let us know what items you would add.
Even if you're only traveling on I-10 for what should a short trip, make sure your tank is full. You know how quickly your short trip can turn into a four-hour nightmare. The last you need is to make it worse by running out of gas.
Either bottled water or in gallon containers, water is something you're definitely going to want to have with you. However, if you get stuck make sure you take your time with it because there aren't any port-a-potties on I-10. But, I may have a bathroom solution for you. More on that later.
You're definitely going to want to have your phone handy during an I-10 backup, and if you can keep it charged without having to run your vehicle to do it. Have a fully charged portable phone charger or two handy and you won't have to worry about it.
If you don't have our free station app, you can get it here. By having our app on your phone, you'll get up to the minute traffic information sent straight to your phone letting you what exits you can take when lanes are open, etc.
Especially during the Summer months, getting trapped on I-10 can turn your vehicle into an over. Have a windshield sunshade handy to help keep the temperature down until traffic starts moving again.
While you're blocking the sun with sunshade, help beat the heat even more with some battery powered fans. They're pretty cheap and will help keep air moving around. You can even get a portable travel mini fan that has 13 hours of goodness when fully charged.
It can be a pretty bad scene being stuck in I-10 for 5 hours when the hangry kicks in. Keep a stash of food/snack in your truck just in case. Beef jerky, peanut butter crackers, dried fruit, and trail mix can keep pretty well until you need it. Hopefully, you won't but better to be prepared.
That's right, don't get caught in an I-10 nightmare with nowhere to go. Take something like this TravelJohn Disposable Urinal. This is just one of many similar products that can save you from a bladder infection or worse. Do a little research to see what's out there and find something that suits your needs.
