We love the outdoors here in Louisiana, and we are lucky to have so many adventures to look forward to here in the Bayou State! Only in Louisiana has reminded me of some of the amazing hiking trails near swamps that are ready for you to explore. Check them out below, and get ready for some fun this summer, y'all.

  • Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Mangement Area Nature Trail, Hwy. 51 just north of Peavine Road. 103,000 acres just west of New Orleans, and the hiking trail leads you through the Cypress Tupelo Swamp
  • Bonnett Carre Spillway Trail, Lower Guide Levee Road, Norco. Five miles that mare mainly using for biking, but pedestrians are always welcome to explore the beautiful water views.
  • Barataria Preserve, 6588 Barataria Boulevard, Marrero. You can spot animals and reptiles that are in their natural habitat along the gravel trails and roads here.
  • Lake Martin Loop Trail, 1001 Rookery Road, Breaux Bridge.  A great place to view native cypress trees and gorgeous views of the water and all the inhabitants of this Acadiana spot.
  • Lake Chico Loop Trail, 3469 Chicot Park Road, Ville Platte. Louisiana's largest state park with a 20 mile hiking trail
  • BREC;s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, 10503 North Oak Hills Parkway, Baton Rouge.103 acres of nature right in the middle of our capital city, the 9,500  ft nature center is a perfect destination for family fun
  • Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge, 480 Richland Place, Monroe. 4,200 acres with a one mile trail to hike and a 400 ft pier that offers stunning views of the Louisiana wildlife, and beautiful sunsets
  • Tickfaw State Park Trails, 27225 Patterson Road, Springfield. You can explore four different ecosystems all along the beautiful Tickfaw River
