Compact discs are still selling well around the world, but not here in the US. Billboard reports, Best Buy will stop selling CD's on June 1st. 800 million CD's were sold in the US in 2001. That number dwindled to 89 million in 2017,according to Consequence of Sound. Target is pressuring record companies with a consignment only arrangement, meaning they will pay only for CD's that sell. It's interesting to note vinyl sales are surging.
