Sad news out of North Louisiana as a body recovered from the Ouachita River Monday morning has been identified as a Lafayette man.

According to the Monroe Police Department, the body of 33-year-old Ryan Stroud was found around 10:40 am.

The body was discovered by bicyclists on the Monroe side of the river approximately 200 yards south of the bike trail at Forsythe Park near the boat dock.

The Monroe News Star is reporting that Stroud was a homeless man who was in Ouachita Parish for drug and alcohol rehabilitation. He did not have family in the area.

Stroud was wearing a New Day Recovery bracelet on his left wrist when he was located.

The Monroe Police Department is asking for the public's help in determining Stroud's whereabouts and information on who he may have been with before this incident.

Should anyone have any information, they are asked to call the Monroe Police Department at 318-329-2600.

There were no obvious signs of foul play or trauma. The body was sent to Little Rock for an autopsy.
