Cajundome to Remain Lafayette’s Only COVID-19 Screening Site
Last week when preparations were being discussed for a screening facility for the COVID-19 virus in Lafayette Parish there were several locations on the table. The first such screening site at Lafayette's Cajundome opened last week and has done a fairly brisk business. There had been plans for other screening sites to open if necessary.
It appears now that those other screening sites will not be necessary as Lafayette Consolidated Government is reporting that the volume of screening at the site remains low. For that reason, proposed sites in Youngsville and Broussard will not be opened at this time.
Those with concerns about the coronavirus are first asked to dial 311. This is where you can be prescreened in a phone interview. The interviewer will ask you several questions and then help you decide whether a COVID-19 screening is necessary for you. This pre-screen system has allowed the screening process at the Cajundome to operate more smoothly, so please, take advantage of it.
Screening at the Cajundome will run this morning from 8:30 to 10:30. Yesterday the Cajundome saw about 100 vehicles come through the screening point. Of those 100 or so that came through only 52 were administered coronavirus threats.
