Cameron Jordan Says Drew Brees Is NFL’s Best QB And It’s Obvious
We all know that the New Orleans Saints have one of the best quarterbacks and leaders on their team in Drew Brees. However, defensive end Cameron Jordan says they've not only got one of the best QB's but THE best QB in the league and to him it's obvious.
In a recent interview on "Good Morning Football" on the NFL Network Jordan would go onto say, “Isn’t that obvious?” (Regarding Brees being the best QB in the league). “I mean year in and year out, he doesn’t get the MVP year in and year out, but eventually he’s due. Who has thrown more 5,000-yard seasons than Drew Brees?”
Cam seems to be insinuating that he believes Brees will eventually win an MVP but how many more years will he play and at a high level?
Jordan does seem to have a point with the 5,000-yard seasons for Brees as seven different quarterbacks have surpassed 5,000 passing yards for a single season 11 different occasions. In fact, Brees has five of those single-season accomplishments and no one else has ever done it multiple times.
The conversation turned next to a couple of other big-time quarterbacks in the league and the veteran defensive end had this to say, “Who’s thrown more yards than Drew? We’re gonna talk about how Pat Mahomes took an already-playoff caliber team back to the playoffs, good job.”
That's a fair point, Alex Smith did quarterback the team to three straight playoff appearances from 2015-2017. How about Tom Brady? He didn't escape Jordan's take either.
“We’re gonna talk about Tom Brady who’s been winning Super Bowls (for years), but I want to see Tom without Bill Belichick. Show me something.”
Again, another fair point from Cam. The New England Patriots haven't been seriously challenged in the AFC for a long time and most notably inside their own division in the AFC East.
It's great to hear from Cam Jordan the way he sticks up for his guy Drew Brees but honestly, what else would you expect him to say? Clearly, he feels a little bit of disrespect for his guy.
