She beats out Aminé, Kodak Black, Playboi Carti and Tee Grizzley for Best New Hip-Hop Artist. "I want to thank everybody again, but I want to thank Jesus," she says while accepting the award onstage. The Bronx native is one of the hottest artists out right now, period. Her single "Bodak Yellow" is now the longest running No. 1 single from a solo female rapper in Hot 100 history, surpassing Lauryn Hill‘s “Doo Wop (That Thing)," which previously held the title in 1998. The record has already reached platinum status and also helped her own dentist triple her business since the song’s release.
Earlier in the night at the awards show, the 24-year-old rapper performed "Bodak Yellow" and won Hustler of the Year. Cardi B also took home the award for Single of the Year for "Bodak Yellow," Made-You-Look (Best Hip-Hop Style) and Best Mixtape for Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 2.
