Champagne’s Supermarket in Erath Announces Reopening Date After Truck Crashes Through Wall
Champagne's Supermarket, the staple grocery store in Erath, is closed until further notice.
UPDATE:
Champagne's took to their Facebook account to let customers know they will be reopening at 6 a.m. on Friday morning (Jun. 2).
ORIGINAL STORY:
According to a Facebook post from the grocery store's official Facebook account, Champagne's Supermarket will be closed until further notice.
Yesterday, Emily Esthay shared photos of a truck that seemed to have somehow driven through a wall of the supermarket to a Vermilion Parish Facebook Group.
Later that day, Champagne's Supermarket posted that they would be open today (June 1).
However, an updated post from Champagne's announced that they would be closed "until further notice."
There weren't many updates from the post on the actual accident, but according to commenters who were allegedly connected to those involved, there may have been minor injuries involved but everyone seemed to be okay.
Champagne's Supermarket in Erath has been a fixture in the community for decades and the only true local option for residents who have literally grown up with store favorites like their chicken salad, rice dressing, and plate lunches.
Outside of driving to Abbeville or Delcambre, Champagne's is the only true grocery store serving Erath, something they have done as a genuine family business since the 1960s. More than a grocery store, many locals view Champagne's as a landmark in the town of Erath.
We have no doubt that Champagne's will bounce back ASAP as they have stood the test of time through hurricanes, flooding, and just about any other bit of adversity that has come their way.
