City Of St. Martinville Public Buildings Closing
There are a tremendous amount of closures that are continuing to happen across the country, the state and across Acadiana.
The latest institution to be added to the list of places that are closing are public facilities in St. Martinville.
Officials with the City of St. Martinville want the public to know that there are no current cases of Coronavirus, and these closures are out of an abundance of caution.
They are working, like other communities, to try to do everything that is possible to halt the spread of Coronavirus through the city and the local community.
While the public buildings in the city will be closed, if you need to conduct some sort of transaction with the city, the drive-thru will still be open for that business.
Tonight, the St. Martinville City Council has a scheduled meeting, and while that meeting is still on, the meeting will be closed to the public. All city officials and members of the media will be allowed access to the meeting.
You can still participate in the process of the meeting of the St. Martinville City Council though the process will be a different one for tonight's meeting.
If you have a question, comment or any kind of concern that you think the council needs to discuss or debate, you actually submit your thoughts via writing and make sure they get delivered through the drive-thru at city hall before 4:30 this afternoon.
In addition to these changes and closures, the Mayor's Court has been cancelled for this month.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced new guidelines yesterday. They are encouraging people to limit their attendance as mass gatherings of fifty people or more whether it is a public or private event in an effort to lessen the chance of transmitting the virus.
As always, officials are reminding everyone to practice social distancing, to always maintain proper hygiene, and if you are feeling stick you should stay home. If you do feel unwell, you should contact your doctor or other qualified medical professional.
