Since the coronavirus pandemic hit the U.S. in March, one of the most difficult things to find on store shelves has been Clorox wipes. Don't expect that to change anytime soon.

According to the CEO of Oakland-based Clorox, the disinfecting wipes could be hard to find on shelves until 2021.

CEO Benno Dorer told Reuters earlier this week that the "entire supply chain is stressed" and "we feel like it's probably going to take until 2021 before we're able to meet all the demand that we have."

One of the issues with these wipes is that it's made of the same in-demand material that's used to make masks, medical gowns and medical wipes.

Clorox says it typically sets aside products for flu season, but COVID-19 has driven demand as they've never seen before. The company says it cannot keep up with the demand for its disinfectants, which has multiplied by six times during the pandemic.

The company has ramped up production, but that still won't be enough to keep up with demand.

Dorer also added that it will now take a year to reach the supply level necessary to meet customer needs due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic along with the upcoming cold and flu season.
