Colin Kaepernick Will Reportedly Stand For National Anthem Next Season
It is being reported that Colin Kaepernick plans to stand in 2017.
After he made headlines for kneeling for the national anthem during the 2016 season, it seems like Kaepernick will be taking a difference stance in the upcoming NFL regular season.
ESPN's Adam Schefter says his sources are telling him that Kaepernick
will stand to avoid detracting from progress he believes has been made and the awareness brought to the issue of social inequality
Sources also say that many teams have already mentioned they wouldn't sign Kaepernick if "he continued his stance."
When he began his protest Kaepernick explained,
I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder
At 29 years old, Colin Kaepernick intends to opt out of his contract with the 49ers, and no one really knows where the quarterback could land next.
