Drew Brees Helps Fund A New Kitchen For Second Harvest Food Bank
Drew Brees has been in a rough spot with the media lately with his comments on kneeling during the National Anthem. Most of Drew’s fans know that he has a heart of gold and only has good intentions. He has done so much for Louisiana and its communities.
Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany, are helping out communities in South Louisiana with funding to Second Harvest Food Bank. In an Instagram post, Brees says they’ll be funding a new kitchen for Second Harvest Food Bank with help from Catholic Charities of Acadiana.
According to Second Harvest Food Bank’s website, one in five households in Louisiana is at risk of hunger. Across our state and region, the rising cost of food, housing, and utilities, coupled with high unemployment have increased the need for emergency food assistance. With the coronavirus pandemic, many families are asking for help for the first time. Second Harvest Food Bank provides food access, advocacy, education, and disaster response.
The second Harvest thanked Drew and Brittany Brees for their contributions on Facebook.
According to Brees and Second Harvest, the donation will make it possible to prepare more than 15,000 meals a week for children, families, and seniors across Acadiana and Southwest Louisiana.
