Governor Jon Bel Edwards said in an interview this week that he expects K-12 schools to open on time in August.

When asked about schools reopening in August, the governor stated that the Superintendent of Education will have more to outline in the days/weeks ahead, but Gov. Edwards does expect students to return to the classroom in 2020.

However, as parents, we should probably prepare for some abnormal procedures when kids do return to the classroom.

For one, the cafeteria may not be open to students, thus students may be eating in the classroom. Schools will take precautionary measures in order to limit student interaction on campus.

We should probably also expect there to be guidelines in regards to "social distancing" in the classroom and on the bus.

As for sports, I would expect there to be limitations as well. I did hear that the LHSAA was considering not allowing fans to attend sporting events in 2020, but no official word has been released.

More on school guidelines and announcements will be coming out in the weeks ahead and with that said, I plan on doing Back-To-School shopping sooner rather than later.
